New iPhone 3G not cheaper

I'm sure that you have heard about the new iPhone 3G by now and that it is able to browse the Net at twice the speed and at half the price. Well, that's just for the case when you look at it at first glance....wait till you actually work out the maths and analyse the whole thing. Take a look at the moment of truth

As you can see, in the long run, it is actually more expensive than the Gen 1 version. Not to mention also that this time round, you have to active/register in-store and not via iTunes anymore. And if you don't activate/register within 30 days, you'll be penalised...OUCH!! In short, to get one for yourself and to unlock it to be used with your own telco, be prepared to fork out a lot more than advertised. According to certain sources, unlocked iPhone 3G is gonna be sold at a hefty RM2540 (after conversion and it's the 8GB model!!).....OUCH take 2!!! and that does not include shipping cost as well as profits earned by resellers.....OUCH take 3!!

So folks, the truth has been unveiled and will I upgrade to the new iPhone 3G?? The answer is...No, thank you. I'll save to get a MacBook instead.

Cheers

Aiyah... everyone knows that $199 for iPhone 3G? Not possible unless you are tied to the telco for long term.
Well then, I'll just have to keep dreaming for an iPhone and drooling at you guys' phones when we meet up.
